Help
support The Smile Factory!
All donations received help defray some of the cost of
supplies to help members have the hands on opportunity to try
various skills. This includes pins and awards bestowed upon
members who are able to demonstrate to the Educators, Board,
and peers their ability to display each skill necessary in
clowning. Pins are awarded for magic, juggling, skits, face
painting, puppetry, balloon twisting, "heart of a
clown", and achieved amounts of Community Service hours.
To date, many of our members have performed over 100 of these
service hours before starting high school, helping them
greatly with their school's requirements.
Who does
The Smile Factory help?
First, it helps kids and their families have fun while
teaching the importance of helping their Community through
volunteering together. The
skills learned help with self esteem, confidence in the
classroom, and life itself. It
also gives kids many opportunities to pursue skills in the
performing arts. As
a group and as individuals they attend many local nursing
homes, assisted living homes, hospital events, town events,
local fundraisers, major charities, and senior citizen
centers.
While helping they are
also excellent role models for their peers by showing that
volunteering can be fun. Recently,
a former “Smile Factory” member received a warm acceptance
into Drew University. During
Orientation, comments were made by the Dean of Administration
on the new excitement of having their very first clown
graduate now in attendance at their school.
